Sectors

GCPS has experience of working across a number of sectors, including international aid and development, sports, schools and faith based organisations & donors and corporates.

Our knowledge, skills, experience and expertise in areas such as assessment, review, training and investigation, as well as tools and approaches we have developed in relation to safeguarding and protection, have proved highly transferable across this range of sectors.

International Aid and Development

Organisations working internationally have a duty to safeguard individuals with whom they are in contact. Whether involved in development work or humanitarian response,
international NGOs and other agencies must ensure their staff, associates and all programme activities are safe and do no harm.

INGOs that operate programmes impacting or involving children, especially those focused on protection issues, also need support to ensure the quality and effectiveness of their activities, through robust programming processes including review and evaluation, as well as ensuring their operations are the safe.

Sports, schools, faith based

Children involved in organised sports and especially those receiving one-to-one coaching can be at risk of harm. Equally, children in schools settings, particularly in international schools where they may also be boarding, may be vulnerable, as too might children participating in activities run by faith-based organisations and
institutions.

The risks are not necessarily higher than in other situations where adults or older children are in positions of trust, but these sectors have experienced particular problems in the past and there are specific risks that require innovative solutions.

Donors and corporates

Increasingly, donors of all kinds and corporate sector bodies that support development activities in various ways, are focused on safety and protection issues. Understandably, these organisations are keen to know that the agencies and the activities they support, are managing safety and protection risks effectively.

Through enhanced due diligence and assessment processes at the start of any funding or partnership arrangement, to review and evaluation of safeguarding measures, GCPS is able to provide donors and supporter organisations the assurance they need.
