Experience and expertise to deliver

GCPS in Middle East

Mercy Corps has engaged Keeping Children Safe to deliver a programme of work to their teams in the Middle East, which is being undertaken by GCPS. Corinne Davey will be working with the teams to integrate child safeguarding across the country offices. This will include assessing and mitigating potential risks to children of Mercy Corps work, mapping how to integrate reporting on child safeguarding into existing complaints mechanisms and building the capacity of focal points to deliver training to others. This is a welcome initiative, the third engagement between Mercy Corps and Keeping Children Safe which has drawn on GCPS resources and skills.

New Publications

GCPS has been providing comprehensive technical assistance to Plan International to develop global practice guidelines and a learning module on community-based child protection. The aim is to support Plan to enhance the quality of its community-based child protection work, by developing a common global approach which can be adapted by regional and country offices according to their specific context.

After workshops to set priorities, the first stage of the project involved bringing together regional mapping studies of Plan’s work on community based child protection into a global report.GCPS then carried out consultations with Plan staff and with advice from an external reference group drafted the guidelines. This was followed by field testing and devising the learning module.
